You can edit their attacks, abilities, movement, and even their names. You can turn enemy NPCs friendly and create an army of minions that follow and fight for you.
THE MAGIC CIRCLE GAME VOICE ACTORS CODE
Instead you trap creatures and edit their code collecting their various abilities and “re-mixing” them. Combat, for example, is removed from the demo before you even get a chance to swing your sword, so as not to spoil the carefully crafted story by allowing players to murder everyone in sight. The way The Magic Circle achieves this is by taking away most of your usual means of interacting with a game. Rather than limiting your freedom, the game gives you the freedom to actually create your own solutions, limited by almost nothing but your creativity. There are usually a good handful of answers to each of the games conundrums, if not more, and it creates some fantastic gameplay. It’s essentially a first-person puzzle game, except where other puzzle games usually limit you to a single solution to each problem, in The Magic Circle you’re able to approach and solve a puzzle from many, many different angles. The Magic Circle is as freeform as a game gets. Your goal is to take control, re-build the game from the inside, and try to save it from its creators. Thanks to your ability to exploit various bugs and gain access to development tools, you’re perfect for PRO’s needs. He’s tired, angry, and wants only one thing, to be released, and he knows that with the current, indecisive development team at the helm that’s never going to happen.
THE MAGIC CIRCLE GAME VOICE ACTORS PRO
PRO is trapped inside the game with no means to change anything. Soon after you complete the demo you’re contacted by PRO, an AI that gained sentience during an early phase of the games development. The trouble is the demo is as much of a disaster as the game. As a playtester, it’s your job to make sure that the demo is as ready as it can be. The latest “Kickbackr” campaign has failed, the development team is desperately seeking funding via their “Patronise” account, and everything hinges on getting a working demo together for E4, in the hopes that an impressive showing there will generate more cash and buy them some time. You’re dropped you into an unfinished, unsalvageable, broken mess of a game under the guise of being an alpha playtester, in a send-up of game development and the industry in general. The Magic Circle is a game that has been in development for twenty-years. The Magic Circle is an interesting proposition. It’s your job to take over development of the game from the inside and hopefully get it finished. The game has been trapped in development hell thanks to a trio of developers who are so indecisive that they’ve more or less removed everything from the game, which is an absolute mess. Your job begins as an alpha tester, playing through the demo of the game ahead of a public showing at E4.
